Error: "Unable to Bind port 80, port may be in use or user needs net_privaddr privilege"

My Notes server is running on a small XP machine. Notes 7.x and 8.02 worked fine. Upgradring to 8.5 gave me this error message: "Unable to Bind port 80, port may be in use or user needs net_privaddr privilege" when trying to start the HTTP process.
Problem caused by the antivirus. Both AVG and AVAST made the Domino 8.5 HTTP task fail - but it works with COMODO ..

I have also seen this happen when Skype is loaded and you try to work with XPages locally... :-)

I have this problem when Skype is loaded as well :-)
Remember when it happened first time I was worried what did I wrong :-)

ESET Smart Security causes the same problem. You can temporarily disable HTTP traffic scan, start nhttp and then re-enable the scan.

ESET NOD32 also did the same... it took me a while to work it out. You need to add the nhttp.exe file under web browsers in configuration and place a cross against it to exclude it from checking.

Also got the skype issue and the decribed AVG one as well:

For Skype issue simply change Port in the settings menue, in AVG I disabled the "Active Surf-Shield". That works quite well for me.

Cheers

I happened to run into this problem, and found the solution with AVG, at least. Under the Tools - Advanced Settings, expand the Web Shield section, click on Web protection, and remove 80 from the list of Ports to be scanned. Works like a charm.
